    "Ranger" Scopes?

hey additional Question to the mossberg rifle Q, they come as part a Combo here with the "Ranger" 3-9x40 scope---

Are any of you blokes using them and whats the general consensus on them?

i had a quick bo peep through one in the store, i liked the Reticle inside of it ...

Thoughts and First hand opinions on it please

    Cheers

Expensive Chinese junk, got one on a T3 package not knowing any better at the time. Ask for a upgrade price to swap it out for a VX1

might clarify my reason for questioning these scopes.

I want a budget Gun- i have a budget and im not going to 'lash' out too far from it...

the gun price without Scope is cool, but these Combo packages are a dime-a-dozen, the influencers behind the stand are always wanting to head you over to the Combo side of the package and try to break it down..

With the Big Sale on tomorrow i ducked in too see where the prices might sit with the sale on, got discussing and ended up haven a gander at the packaged rifles scoped.....

bloke was sayin the Rangers are on par with the Leupolds up to a fairly high price and he gave his thumbs up to the Ranger as being good enough with no problem on it..

to me , it didnt look as good from the outside and was ok from the inside--
the scoop is with the Rings and Scope its like an Extra $200 for the Combo---- as opposed to the Bare rifle on bargain price to then Buy mounts to put my Zeiss terra on it, im potentially lookin at the same sort of Pricing-
the cheap Weaver mounts i was shown, looked the same as the ones that came on my Marlin X7 in which the previous owner threaded the shit out of to the point of No use...

so im thinkin i'll need to spend $100-$150 on Weaver style ring setup......... before putting my scope on- so we're again at the budget limit.

only flip side to the combo is potentially having a 'backup scope' for when i tumble down a slip/scree chute fairly soon

apart from that im not seeing the Combo package as the way to go...

i guess you are looking at the gun city xmas sale? to be honest buy the bare gun and then save up or you will kick yourself when you try to shoot bambi, kiss it and then hear the lenses in the scope rattling around. to be honest i havent had much to do with the mossberg patriot but bang for buck probably better off buying a howa

Yeah Thanks mate , makes sense!
the Mossy is just alot lighter than the Howa to begin with! im after light-er than longevity at this point LOL
but i think il do the bare rifle-- do a few pay slips and do the rings later!

BURRIS ZEE RINGS - Quality steel rings - thread won't strip off like the cheapy alloy threads do. pay no more than $95 NIB from a dealer. Get on the web to find the best price.
I had a RANGER SCOPE, the reticle came loose and has rotated 60 degrees. Its useless and i'll use it as a tack-hammer. I bought it second hand, no shop receipt, so no warranty.
Keep an eye out here and and elsewhere for a S/H big brand scope. You may hav to hunt round but there are regularly good deals to be had

maybe he was refering to the Fake leupolds from Ali Express as a real Leupold even a VX1 is miles better and more reliable than a ranger or any other "own brand " scope. looked thru a couple and they where like looking thru a coke bottle full of mud and the reticule were on the piss on both too.

Don't cheap out on your scope, it may seem like a good deal at the time but you will grown to regret it.

Best bang for your buck will be a Burris Fullfield II, they're great value for money and have decent resale value. Burris Zee rings are really good as well as Talley rings.

Not sure what your budget is, but I'd recommend buying second hand. Can save quite a bit of money and a lot of rifles on trademe are barely broken in.

How about a second hand rifle - find something local and look
Or from one of the many good blokes here so you get something ok
Spend a bit more on glass is always better - that’s what you are going to view the hunt with
Those ‘package’ deals and often more about the price and value
