Nice to see you care about following the law.
Best of luck.
I hope others aren't quite so cavalier about arms laws. Doesn't reflect well on firearm owners.

Get over yourself. It is a fucking scope.
Not a firearm in any context therefore no need to infer the worst to prove your point
Go find someone else to condescend.

I'm not inferring anything.
You flat out said you don't care about obeying Australian
export laws.
Whether you consider it "just a scope", makes no difference under Australian law.

I will change my evil ways. Right after I bring in my next gift.😆
Go ruin another thread seeing you have influenced and guided me to reform.

Who gives a shit what Australians think about anything
Australia is a land of a million rules, practically a Police state if you want. It is also a Country of people who know how to get round or ignore those rules in my experience. They don't particularly like or respect their police force either (also in my personal experience). Not a good place in this respect.
Back on topic. What mags does everyone run?
I have a couple brand new colt 30rnd mags and a couple 20rnd Nz Army issue ones.
Are there good plastic ones or just stick with what I have?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I like alloy 20 rounders, 30 would be better for gun games but I like the little ones
shoot the alloy ones til you have a problem with them imo
I may have a 20 or 30 round colt mag in my pile of gear somewhere I'll dig out for you, I sold my rattle gun a long time ago.
Use what you have.
For target games I'm a big fan of h&k mags, have even cut a couple down to 15 rounds for varmint shooting from a bipod.
But if I have to carry a ar for hunting I tent to use a alloy 20 round or a 20 round magpul depending on what load I'm using-some are just to long for the plastic mags
Sounds good. Give me a yell when you are home.
Gotta get to work first😆
My flight was due in to Brisbane at 8am. Arrived at 1pm due to fog. No one's fault.
We are not leaving for Port Moresby til 10.40 tonite. Supposed to have been away at 20:30.
Air Nugini would have to be the most incompetent airline in the world.
I have lost count of the times we have been delayed due to aircrew just not showing up for work coz they can't be assed. The poor work ethics I see demonstrated by other nationalities everyday in my job, makes me so proud to be kiwi.
Oh well it is their time this time, not mine.😆

Picked up and zeroed the JP today.
My strike eagle has not arrived yet but I had a 1-4× bushnell to test it out with.
Ballanced the gas so it cycles the ammo I have well.
The JP was very accurate as expected and has a friggen amazing trigger from new.
The thing just sits on target and it just seemed easy to have double taps almost touching from 50 m forward where you want them. Very well balanced rifle all round.
Current scope is mounted a bit low but I did not find it too much of an issue just mucking around.
I have a weaver cantilever mount for the new scope when it arrives.
If the 1x is better on the vortex than the bushnell I doubt I will bother fitting anything but cheap as 45° irons.
I can only see them coming in handy if you have to transition from point blank to distance targets and need the magnification up high, to save time.
I have to say it felt a bit weird at the start, cocking an AR from the side but I liked it. I could engage the HOD with my thumb when clearing a live round quite easily.
So far pretty happy with the decision to buy it.☺

This is what I ended up with in the end.
JP PSC-11 upper. CTR-02 lower.
Strike eagle 1-6× scope. BDC reticle.
Weight is 3.95 KG all up, unloaded.
It is a joy to shoot and very accurate. I can see my .223 blaser barrel not getting too much use in future because I had no idea an AR could shoot as well.
I was never intending to hunt with the rifle as I bought it for a dicipline.
But I reckon it would be rude not to shoot some wallabies or the like with it.
Very loud with the break. I may suppress it, but l like how it is bang on for a follow up shot, before I am ready to tap one off.
Don't like the stock at all. Will try and find a beefy one or modify the current one. Just offset irons to come and she will be all setup.
Buying this is mikee's fault.😊
I never heard of a JP till he mentioned it.
That's what I told the cook anyway😆

What's the strike eagle like?
There is a thread somewhere on here already on the strike eagle.
I really like it. I have not seen an HD vortex but I think/assume one of these will fill any gap nicely.
Very good glass and practical reticle.
The bottom mark works inside 10m to hit an A zone if aiming central.
Capped turrets. I did find the adjustments were very soft/spongy.
Good illumination range but have not used it to shoot yet.
Very affordable and nicely thought out bit of kit I reckon.
Pretty sure there are a few others that have them on here who could chime in with their thoughts.

I'll take the Bushnell 1-4 off your hands if you want R93
Will have to chop the barrel to suppress is the only downside, which would be a shame, that brake won't just come off. You'll go hunting a few times and be quite impressed, but then start finding it a little bit heavy and .... and start thinking you need and get a light hunting AR, or just an upper....AR disease sets in
Easy job to be able to use both a supp and the original brake.
Got it sorted already😆

The JP so far using Milspec 62g ammo shoots around 1.5-2" 100 m groups. About the same as I remember any good issue Styer shooting the same ammo.
Reloads with 55 sp or 50 Vmax shoot well under that.
Brass retrieval is easy from a static position as well, with the rifle balanced.
They fall on top of each other😆
Must get a catcher for 3 gun.

Brass catchers look gay though, don't do it in public ;-)
That's a bit too much honesty about rifle groupings for an online forum, you'll start a craze next....
Chuck a 12x power scope on and Hornady or Rem target ammo and expect that barrel will go well under an inch. Unless its just me, I find it hard telling exactly how rifle groups with low powered scopes or thick reticles.
Intrigued with suppressor solution? over the top of brake?
Barrel shoots as good as my blaser .223 with reloads.
I will part the brake off and re crown and thread. Was going to go over the top but to much hassle due to the brakes diameter.
Not doing it anytime soon. But people at the club are complaining how loud it is😆
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
The loudness cleans the brass nicely....filthy when shooting a heap off suppressed
im using one of these http://www.3bucc.com/feature.htm best one ive used so far much better than the velco ones including the 3gun gear ones and the caldwells ones. I found with those ones not having any real structure round the ejection port that brass can get caught up and try go back in causing jams you had to be extra careful shooting prone.
Looks like something else to get in the way. Goodluck trying to use offset irons with that thing!
Forget the brass and concentrate on shooting the stage.
.....as far as the loudness from the muzzle brake, would you consider as an option something like the Varimax-QC brake from DF Maisey Gun Smiths. Seems like a good option to have a brake you can turn on and off when required. Look well made too.
