    Re-Barreling a Savage in Wellington

    Hey all,

I have an older Model 110 in .308 on it's way to me now that may have a bum barrel and I'd like to see if anyone in the Wellington area has the tools to re-barrel her? I've done my Stevens 200 and 12FVSS at home but since I only have 5 months left in this amazing country I'd rather not buy all the tools for the job. If you have the tools to lend or a workshop to share for an hour or so I'd be sure to bring a 12-pack along to say thanks. Also, if anyone has a factory take-off barrel in .308 then shoot me a PM and I'll keep in touch.

Here's a picture of the old lady.

    Regards,

    - Jay C.

Thanks for the link barefoot, an awesome website with some cool products but the rental + shipping looks to be around $55. I was hoping to spend around $20 to have her re-barreled.

So did you get a premade barrel for the savage out of the states or have one made here?
Just curious as often think of rebarrelling mine.

Are you on holiday from Scotland or Holland?

All model 110 based Savages use the same threads and can be mixed and matched as long as the shank size and caliber/bolt face matches. That probably wasn't explained very well but I'm really tired and would appreciate if someone else chimed in ha ha. Anyways, it means that I could take a barrel from a .308 Stevens 200 and put it on my Model 110 without any special work being done. All a person needs are the proper tools and it's easily done in about 10 minutes if you don't encounter any unforeseen difficulties.

I'm just looking for a factory barrel in .308 that someone removed in order to upgrade to a Shilen, Kreiger, ect. They usually go for $50-$70 in Canada and figure it's worth spending a little dough to replace the pitted factory barrel on the 110 coming my way.

@kiwijames - Nah, working holiday from Canada!
