For me: easiest 7mmSAUM or a 7mm/300WSM (using Norma brass)
Then possibly: 338 Edge single shot
If opening it up: 7mm FatMax (I have to say that as I have one ) or a 338LM Improved variant, or if you are keen, a 338 Thor.

I wouldn't do a 6.5 WSM personally. Very hard on barrels from what I've heard...

Do you really think your 7mm FatMax is any beter in the barrel eating department????
1000yds is fun, 1500yds is getting interesting, 2000yds is exciting, 2500yds will blow your mind

Probably not much better, might get 1,000 rounds out of it. Thats plenty for a hunting rifle, lots of meat and practice (and hopefully) a few trophies in 1,000 rounds
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

I just ran the numbers thru my barrel life calculator, and there's about 15% more theoretical life with the Fatmax. Plenty of hunting barrel life in either chambering, but we've found the big 7mm's easier to get to shoot than the big 6.5's.

    G'Day Fella's,

If it was for hunting purposes only, I'd just go with a stock standard 7mm WSM.

    Hope that helps

Wishing you lot All the Very Best for 2012!!!
