Rebarrel and or rechamber a Sako 85 .270

Ok... so Ive buggered the barrel on my Finnlite.
Rolled a motorbike and landed on the rifle.

What are my options for a rebarrel.
    Thinking 30/06 possibly.

    Thoughts? Costs?

    Go the 30-06
Could go pretty much anything based on that case or 308 case or 284 case

    280?

    Beaten to it by Kokako.

What would be required in having it changed to a 3006 with say a TrueFLite barrel?

If you don’t mind waiting a bit, I have a very low round count Sako 85 Carbonlight 7x64 factory barrel. It does have a VERY long throat, made for silly euro projectiles.

Get a tikka barrel, heaps of dudes removing them to rebarrel to different calibers, there is usually a few as new ones in different chamberings around. Why not stay with the 270 if your not a reloader, it's hard to beat.

Yep do this: $200-$300 gets you a Tikka barrel, gunsmith screws it on and head spaces it, job done. New Sako barrel with a Tikka stamp. Get another in .270.

280 rem im a fan of federal makes blue box thats pretty good

cheep rebarrel option is a 270win tikka barrel if you want something similar
im in the process of screwing a 308 Tikka T3 barrel into my sako 75, just dropped off yesterday. ill let you know if i run into any issues

    30-06, 25-06, 6.5-06, 280, 270, 338-06, 6mm-06,

all good options just decide what projectile you would like to throw
if you stay with the same case you should be able to keep that sako reliability

also post up a photo so we can laugh at your misfortune

also 700 to 1000 on the cheap end for a rebarrel.
literally the sky is the upper limit. carbon wrapped fluited ect $

Tikka t3 take off barrels are relatively easy to find
270 ones are seemingly the easiest to find
they go between $150 and $250

I will have factory 270wsm finnlight barrel available soon, open up the bolt face and with your long action you would have a pretty capable rifle

As others have said, get a Tikka barrel for it. Keep it in .270 or if you really want a new calibre specifically designed for that model 85 and has factory ammo, 6.5x55 Swede.
