Thread: Rechamber 708 to 7mm Saum

I can't answer your question but do wonder if you would want a faster twist in the 7mm SAUM to handle todays high BC projectiles.

Thanks Kelton and Grandpamac - Have had a look at a technical sheet and T3 708 are 9.5" the same as their 7mm mag.

A friend recently rebarrelled his 7mm Rem Mag with a 1 in 8" twist so that he could shoot the high BC projectiles. I think Remington used a 1 in 9" or 1 in 9 1/4" twist. He found that the high BC projectiles shot well at 100 metres but turned to crap at longer ranges. The 7mm-08 barrel would be cheaper than a new barrel but may disappoint in the long run.

It will certainly work as you said you have a magnum donor so has the magnum bolt face once again and only in my opinion the twist rate of the 7mm tikkas and sakos let's them down for a saum 9.5 will suffice but I wish their rem mags were 1-8 big cartridge for a little projo
