Whoever thought this simple request for a gunsmith would turn into an English lesson!
My old English teacher, Mad Murray McRae, was a real stickler for things like this. He was adamant that it was pure laziness to use brackets, and "Boy, why use 'but' when you should be using 'and'!!" - spoken in an utterly disdainful English accent.
I can read it both ways, but/and you can remove all doubt by saying "Jaco is based in Kapiti, and does good work..."
I might actually get in touch with Jaco after all this. Sounds like he is very good, despite being based in Kapiti...
