Hammer tackers are vastly better but are made to be putting something flexible onto something solid ie building paper onto a house and need a decent thwack to activate

For targets the recommended unit would be fine

If stapling to something like ply wood a hammer tackers a good option

if only tikka did a staple gun...

I'm a bit of a dinosaur and would go with a single shot stapler

Accuracy International AXSR is the way to go.

I bought a dewalt one a while back. Seems to go well.
