YouTube vid on LE No 4 Mk 1 disassembly. Relevant bit is from 8 mins into video. Do you completely remove fhe barrel band screw? The band has to be pried a bit open for sliding off.

Be careful on removing the lower wood - dont lever it off by pulling down on the front end, as this can damage the draws at the rear. It comes off downwards and forwards, parallel to the front face of the wrist piece.
