Sounds similar to what I use with motorbike touring - constant wind noise is actually really loud and damaging. And constant!
Think it cost me $80, guy made custom plugs for my ears. Based on Kapiti Coast.
Can hear fine with them in, things sound normal, just really really really quiet. Like someone turned the volume down by a lot.
