    I am considering another rifle.
Finnlight or a Mod 7 after fondly fondling @Gibo's tool (mod 7)...the mod 7 would get a new skirt eventually. A mate can get one for me new.
My question would be as the 260 has (to me), great appeal both as being cool & also as a reliable calibre would any recommend it as a calibre worth buying on its own merits?
I already have three 308's, hence not doing the obvious and buying another of the worlds best calibre.

Well if your interested in a finnlight .260, mine is arriving into NZ in two days (from Canada), and as I already have a kimber in .260, Won't be needing it, Spare mag, brass, dies, etc, latest model 85, vented recoil pad, low round count,
I was going to chop it to a bush pig, but have changed my mind, and will get rifle with a bigger bore. or spin on a new barrel, with a bigger bore,

You must reload if you want the best out of your 260. Depends what you going to use it for and range. I like to have options and just starting to collect some rifles . 243 is my go to rifle, got a 308 for a back up and to extend range out. Now looking at a 7mm mag to cover longer distance in the open, maybe braked so no recoil and have a long range rig. Might then get a 223 for goats and longe range hare shooting.......

Have been looking at numerous 6.5mm options the past couple of months, considered the .260, looked at all the wildcats but in the end settled on a 6.5 x .284, having this built on a donor rifle I had which is a Ruger...

I run a .243 as my go to for the bush, a .22-250 for varminting (goats Fallow and so on) then the .300WM for the long range stuff, the 6.5 x.284 fits right in between the .243/.300WM good out to 600m but has a bit more than the .243 in the thicker stuff...

Yes. I fn hate long barrels so that rules out the -284? Surely for value for powder. Not wanting to start a shit fight over this and that vs 260 vs 6.5x55 vs 6.5-284etc. I know they all have value and their own part to play.
The real value (for me) -finnlight and mod 7 are there smaller, lighter barrels/ action vs tikka etc.

With all due respect, and your not the only one...
Why would anyone want a model 7 over a 700?
The couple iv seen at the range left the people shooting them cussing. And left me thinking there a piece of shit....

What's a long barrel, I'll be running a 22in on mine...with a 1-8 twist, will spit out and stabilise Sierra 123/142 HPBT quite nicely by all accounts... so I guess if you're wanting 20in or less then perhaps not...

Check out the "Model 7 in your life thread" - they make great bushpigs when suppressed.

I definitely can't see a 700 in my cabinet anytime soon.
Anyway, caught a pig today, no deer seen- me and the old man got a wet ass.
