Recommendations wanted on 357Mag Lever Action

I am unsure of the relative merits and demerits of The Rossi, Marlin, and Henry in 357Mag.

Intended use is a walking rifle for close work no further than 100m. My preference is to keep the rifle clean with the only exception being a rear aperture sight as and when this is available. Accuracy should be with 3" at 100m with good factory ammo.

    Budget is around $1200.

    Would appreciate your views.

I had a rossi would of been more like 12 inches at 100 on a good day

Marlin all day long...... Awesome gun and amazing groups at 100yds with 296 and 158s (doesnt seem to matter much what projectile). You wont get a CSBL for that sort of budget though. They come with a rear peep sight.

IMO Far superior rifle to the Rossi's. you get what you pay for with lever guns.

I have a Rossi in 357 mag I load for .A 160grain semi wadcutter driven by 6.3 grains of unique groups about 3 inches at 100m. Very pleased with it.

I have a Rossi in 44. Original sights shot a foot or so high with no more adjustment on the rear. Installed rail and red dot. Now within an inch at 50 metres. The older version 357 I owned in the 70's ( non safety) was definitely tighter mechanically.

Wonder if it has the steel butt plate. The 44 mag is bad medicine enough for an old shoulder.

My Rossi 44mag didn't seem to bad for a steel butt plate but the 357 marlin csbl feels like a 22 with the rubber pad.
Much better action on the Marlin as well , in both use and disassembly .
The csbl is quite a bit heavier than the barrel band versions as well. Not as small or sleek.
If by some miracle I ever find a cheap 1894 I would seriously consider adding that to the safe.

I've got a rossi, 100m is a loooooong way away with it. Probably just doesn't get used enough.
