    Recommended Bergara Gunsmith?

Hi all, I'm looking for a Bergara gunsmith, hopefully around the Hamilton - Waikato region. Or at least someone to talk to, as I think I messed up the cleaning of my rifle after a series of misfires, and the rifle doesn't feel as it did.

    Thanks in advance

Don't think you need a gunsmith specifically for Bergara.

Arthur Cleland has always been super professional when he did work for me.

Got it, thanks. I was initially recommended to approach a Bergara agent for parts, but looked them up (NEW ZEALAND ASIA TRADING 2007 LTD.) and didn't see very much. Gave them a ring, and they suggested I request for parts via a retailer or gunsmith. Fingers crossed, thanks all.

The mechanism is almost identical to the Ruger 10/22.

It was my first time cleaning a rifle ever. I think I messed up the recoil spring guide rod on a BXR (#9-11). As I was cleaning the rod I accidentally sprung the bolt handle (#11) off the guide rod (#9). Lost a C-clip on the barrel end of the rod (#9). Had it replaced and was then able to reassemble the rifle. But then noticed that the C-clip would dislodge as the bolt recoiled. I think I am now missing a piece that should have held the c-clip onto the end of the rod.

I've also since noticed that the (1) bolt doesn't glide as well, (2) is difficult to unlock from it's rear position, and (3) the recoil spring guide rod is wobbly on the barrel end.

Will drop it off at the gunsmiths and see what he says

Almost sounds like the c clip is loose.
Should be as tight as to get on

Should the bolt assembly (#8) slam into the (stock end of the) barrel after each recoil spring, or no?

Bolt should hit up against the barrel if that's what you mean.
There should also be a either a hardened steel or a synthetic recoil pin at the rear.
That bit is #6 on the drawing
