Red Dot focus problem with a possible answer.

I had problems with the red dot scope and only after a visit to my local gun smith, did things start to come clear.

I was informed that it's my eyes that can't focus the Red Dot reflection as a Dot! to me it looks like it's spider webs coming off the dot.

Then talking with tentman he sent me a link, which I thought to share, before you throw that Red dot in the BIN.
The link is a different one but full of the same content. I took a phone picture of the red dot and it's a good Dot! just one way to test it.

    Hope this helps someone else.

    Astigmatism.

In general once you get past 40, you will have some sort of eye issue, nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, night vision issues, etc.

If only! mines spider webs around the dot

    Three Types of Astigmatism
There are 3 main kinds of astigmatism:
Myopic astigmatism. One or both primary meridians of the eye are myopic. (If both meridians are nearsighted, they are myopic in differing degree.).
Hyperopic astigmatism. One or both principal meridians are farsighted. (If both are farsighted, they are hyperopic in differing degree.).
Mixed astigmatism. One principal meridian is myopic, and the other is farsighted.

Just to add to the thread.

Yeah I've got a mild case. My dot looks like a star still. Perfectly. Usable if not a little annoying

I remember getting my first eotech about 6 years ago. Waited anxiously from optic planet for days. So excited and ready to go out and use it.

I wish you could have seen the look on my face when I first saw the reticle, didn’t take me long to google diagnose myself with astigmatism. Sucks goats balls. I need specs on if I’m using red dots or acogs.
