Just got a Bergara Scout in 308.
Thinking about putting a red dot on it.
Never used them before.
Anyone running a similar set up?
Other option is to just chuck a 3-9 x40 on it.

They work good if quality but make sure you look through first as some types Eg aimpoint holosun etc may not look like a dot if you have a astigmatism in your master eye then you will need the holograph type like the eotech etc . For me my holosun dot looks like a comet but still ok up to 100m body shot . great for perithial vision also get the 2 moa dot
Yeah had a look through an aimpoint and a Bushnell today. The Bushnell had a slight tint to it but still looked ok. A lot cheaper too.
Ive got a vortex crossfire dot on my bergara 45 70, works a treat
FFS buy my leupold cqb before i buy another close up bush gun
My son has one on his 22, pulled off some amazing shots with it. Standing shot at 107 paces last time I was with him. And I was able to get a 50mm group at 100 with my friends 22. Excellent optic's for out to about 100, both eyes open.
fixed 4x leupold.........or a pigplex type low vari power.....sooner or later you will be presented with a 200 yard shot....the other negative with a red dot is when its bright sunny day, they dont show up very well,or at least they never used to.
I've got a holosun on my 20g and really like it. About 10 brightness settings so turn it up on bright days and down to 2 or 3 at night. Quite impressed with it on the shotgun but only shooting to 40mtr or so.
Cheers for the replies.
I'm leaning towards a red dot.
Something a bit different.
Got an RMR on my bush rifle, happily shoot a deer at 200
