    how many still have the old 8x57 - was popular back in sixties as a hunting rifle - I quess because ex German army Mausers were available

    @Barry the hunter well I am using what I think is a post war Brno mauser 8x57 albeit in a sporter stock, better trigger and of course a scope. Think there might be a 98 in their model number. Not a VZ I think.
    Got my last 2 deer, missed (well hit it but got away) a pig and muffed a chance at another pig in a mad rush (another story) as the timney safety was on and that was it.

    plenty id say........... plan on taking mine to the range next week (weather permitting ) to make sure its ready for the roar and any winter hunts i might get ....a lack of variety on the ammo shelf means reloading is the way to go
