    Rem 700 600

Anyone know if rem 700 rail will fit on a rem 600?

The 700 short action one piece base will fit the 600s and both version of the model 7.

The Leupold 700 short action base only has three mounting holes and often needs another drilled for the rear mount

    Remington 600= 3 holes
    Remington 7 old = 3 holes
    Remington 7 newer = 4 holes
    Remington 700 Short action = 4 holes.
All off them have 3 of their holes at the same positions.
The Remington 7 4th hole and Remington 700 4 hole are not in the same position.
A leupold one piece standard base will fit all of them.3 holes base)
A picatinny rail for a rem 700 can be fitted to the three holes receivers of the 600 and the 7 by trimming the back past the first hole (or last hole depending how you see things).
    Hope that helps.

Thank you now I know what to look for. The one on my 600 is a straight bottom rail that has been packed up with washers, It works but doesn't look the tidiest

Shim it at the back with black 'liquid metal' epoxy and once set torque it down? You often need to do this with one-piece bases that don't quite 'fit' an action's profile and the rear of the base floats when screwed down at the front only...

I could probably make an alloy block to go under it, a one piece mount would be my preferance if such a thing exists

Shim it with the metal-filled tappable epxoy. JB-weld or similar. It works, it's not a new problem you've found. Just chuck a fair bit under the rear of the base, tighten the front down and let the rear set up (making sure the screws are in at the rear and have release agent on them so you don't glue them in place). Once cured, torque both ends as normal. If I could be bothered I'd take a picture of a few high-end one piece bases that needed this treatment.
