How do other rem 700 users out there clean the part of the action that the locking lugs run in?
I find that area really hard to clean.

Toothbrush is what I use to clean the guide rails on my 700
Don't go hunting/shooting. I find this the most effective way to keep my rifles in tip top condition.:oh noes:
If we're talking the lug recesses, I blast them with brake cleaner on my Remington.
Don't know if I'd do the same if it was bedded, mines not.
Yep, the part of the action that the lugs rotate in, in front of the chamber. Can't get into it properly.
Brownells will be the place to look. Brakleene will remove all grease, and IMO you want a very little but on the lugs.

Agreed, reapply a suitable grease to the bolt lugs once they, & the action recesses are clean to prevent any galling.
you could try a ar10 chamber brush there a t shape brush. seems to work for me, I just don't do it that often.
Sand blast then brakeleen then buy a sako:D
Did I say I was scared of it, more like terrified. Brought it new in 1987 for $800 dollars. I think it was the stock design that was the issue cause I could shoot a mates M700 (in same caliber which was actually lighter) very well. It booted but more would smack me in the face real bad. Kinda put me off ever buying another one even though I suspect the issue was all in my head in the end.
Sounds like stock shape, used to use a Lambergun? over under when a young fella on bunnys, shot real well with it too.... took it to a work team clay bird shoot and did pretty well even with 3/4 and full barrels but after 200 odd rounds my shoulder was fine but I couldn't talk properly my cheek had had such a bashing.!
Time to come out for another go at clays then if I cant find a gun that fits the same as above I'm sure we can improvise on the cheek bashing if its that important to your shooting style http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/fi...face-punch.gif
