Thread: REM700 bolt and bolt face

Can a non magnum bolt (eg 270 or 3006) be opened up to magnum eg 7mmRM ?

As far as I no the bolt body diameter is the same so it should be no dramas

Yep I had my 30/06 opened up to 7mm mag. You will probably need to replace the extractor with a sako style too though.

Found this list and I don't have the technical skill to assert that it is all true so perhaps treat it as a starting point for discussion with your gunsmith?

Most definitely can. And once done you’ll have a Sako extractor that kicks the pants off the original one!
