    Remington 700 trigger recall

Hey guys. Has anyone had to have their rem 700 sent back and trigger fixed? They did a recall for triggers causing the rifle to fire on its own. Just not sure how it's going to work if the couriers are no longer shipping firearms. I was hoping to head out for a hunt in a couple of weeks, but can't risk it if my trigger is faulty. I searched the Remington site with my serial number and it came up needing to be changed. I'm asking here as the email Remington supplied bounced back.

Ive been using a Remington 700 with standard trigger since 1989 with no problems.
Main thing is not to point it at anything you do not intend to shoot.

Na this was only a QC issue on rifles made between 2009 and 2014 I think

Some places were doing a deal where you could get a Timney trigger installed and just pay the difference. Cheap upgrade to a Timney.

Did you replace them on behalf of Remington? Or for your own rifles? Did they just send you a replacement trigger?

I’ll be interested to know how you get on @CamFlatt. My serial number came up as ‘may be’ affected by the recall... I thought my trigger was pre- XMP though, as it’s not externally adjustable. Any of those places you mention in Canterbury, @systolic?

Not sure. I got mine done through the importers up in Auckland. Outdoor Brands I think it was. My local shop sent it off to them.

Yeah it is still outdoor brands according to the Remington website. Though I suspect the email bounced because the initial recall was a few years ago. I sent them an email, but have heard no response do far. Also hasnt answered their phone. Will try again monday

Thanks. Do you still replace them? Would it take long? I could always pop up to chch for the day sometime

So I called outdoor brands, and they will send the trigger down to my local gunsmith, who will replace it at my cost(he's also going to adjust the pull for me too). It would have been free if I could get the rifle up to gun works in chch, but thats 2 hours drive from me. Cheaper just to get the local guy to install. Only issue is it's not covered under warranty, but I'm getting him to adjust anyway.
