One test you could try next is doing a small glue in bedding to see if it improve things.
If the gun was not shooting that well the following could be done:
it is taking the barrel off, checking contact between bolt lugs and action lug and lapping /trueing if necessary, truing front face of receiver, fitting a thicker recoil lug like a holland or pacific tool and gauge, refitting barrel and adjusting headspace.
Shooting the gun again and see what it does.
