    Yeah I expect it probably is, I can see why the bench rest crowd got into them.

    Urban legend suggests their accuracy was one reason they got killed off. Remington couldn't handle having the cheaper rear locking action consistently shooting as good or better than their flagship model 700.

    Greetings All,
    A chap turned up at the old Roy's Hill Range, early 1980's, with a new rifle just like that. No scope, open sights and an 18.5 inch barrel. From the 100 yard mound (actually about 85 metres) he shot an excellent group as good as mine with a scoped .308. I was impressed. The open sights on those were pretty good though. Any you find with a decent barrel are worth picking up if you have a need for one and perhaps even if you don't. I think the accuracy is at least partly due to a very stiff receiver.
