Just wondering what everyones general thoughts were on this rifle? have ordered one chambered in 270 win ( most of my experience is with a 308 Mauser but thought I would give the calibre a go and make up my mind from experience).

They along with the BDL are the best of the Remington's in my view, I've got a CDL stainless in 6mm Remington, nicely balanced accurate rifle, this is from a Sako, Winchester M70 fan.
I'm in the process of tossing up whether to purchase a new 30 06 , I've been looking at these or the x bolts
My 1990 made Bdl was very accurate.
The only trouble is having bought and sold a couple of newer Remingtons including a Mountain rifle over past recent years just remember to factor in whatever you pay for the rifle rings and scope add at least $250+ on top for a proper trigger
The X-Mark pro is shit.
Nice rifles. They do them in a model 7 as well. Not 270 though.
700 CDL def a nicer rifle than the cheapo Tupperware crap they are also known for.

I bought an old wellused REM700 CDL a few years back second hand, in 7mmRM. Barrel was pretty much poked. Fitted a new REM700 ss bbl off a new REM, dropped it into a B&C stock and it’s a real tack driver.
Yep I'm getting a timney ( I think) trigger put in first thing.
I have a leftie in 223 built in the late 80's CDL is bedded and has a single stage Timney dropped in that I bought as part of a lot a guy sold through half a dozen years ago.
Shoots like a demon 55gr Hornady factory spire points like a dream.
Very happy with it - the only thing I'd swap it for would be a tikka 1:8 in stainless as I'd love to be able to throw heavier pills and not have to baby it quite so much in the rain.
But hey you always want what you ain't got eh! - well I do...

Self confessed Remington slut here. I would have 7-9 nine of them. Mostly older A, B or C series actions with custom tubes but also have a couple of Ss BDL models from last 10 years with factory tubes in aftermarket stocks that shoot very well. After market triggers are worth considering.

I looked at a couple of CDL SFs in BassPro Springfield when I lived in Missouri with a view to buying. Nice lines, but the finish on both was cracked all over like crazy paving. How that passed QC is beyond me, but made me wonder what else was wrong (aside from junk triggers). Never bothered to look again.
Conversely, I bedded a 70s .30-06 for a work colleague which had a beautiful stock and a sweet, smooth action. I wanted to buy it but he was holding on to it.
yep the older ones were pressure point bedded. And you should think about keeping your eye out for an older 2nd hand model, back before REM started get screwed by their various new owners.

The finish on the old rem 700 cdl my dad has is far better in every way to the 2012 brand new sps I got myself
Both were great rifles
The Freedom Group thing certainly hasn't helped in my opinion.
Get the feeling the tooling isn't getting changed out when it should.
I brought a CDL SF in .270 about 3 years ago. Real happy with it, getting MOA with factory ammo after bedding the action and it’s a nice carry.
No complaints here and I’m sure you’d be happy as!
