    retail gun prices

how flexible are the major stores on their listed gun prices? after a new finnlight and buying with cash, will they generally knock a hundred off / should you insist on this or you're getting ripped or is there not much margin in a retailer for selling a new rifle?

My past dealings with HnF they wouldn't even match another stores price for the same thing...very money hungry hence go elsewhere when I can. Depends on the store, but like all retail theres margin to move to a cheaper price if they choose too. Depends on whose running it and if they want your business or not....always support the ones that look after you. Lack of comp around our area and the HnF stores think they can dictate the price to you

yeah interesting replies, @BRADS all the h&f stores have put the price up to $3499 now so no chance of $2900 aye... .. you're probably right about them not being worth it too haha. ill have to ring around a few more shops. the ones i have rung all said they'd chuck in a sling or box of ammo but none have said they'd give it for less than retail. taihape sports sounds a good bet ill try them next

Love it when people say what's ya best price for cash, I ask what the alternative is lol

    No offence ARD

As others have said if you have a good report you may get something, best just ring all gun sellers and ask what there best price is ( don't mention the cash bit) even email each of the h&f guys on the one email asking the question. Someone will do you a deal

Well there is a distinction if you're talking to the actual owner and don't expect a receipt..

As a ex retailer I used to hate it and hardly ever bothered replying, but almost every day I used to get a email from someone out of town asking what my best price was for item X shipped to them-it was very obvious that the email was sent to every shop in the industry they could find a email for.
I have since used this tactic myself and found some interesting results, mostly it has given me lists of retailers in several fields that will do very good deals on clip the ticket type sales for things they haven't had to pay to stock.

For shooting stuff I do find it hard to go past forum member herbmister at nzrac, his website only has a few things on it but he is fantastic to deal with if you know what you want and the importer has it in stock.
