    A rifle

I've got a Winchester 9422M .22WMR. I inherited it from my dad when he died back in 2004. I used it a lot as a kid, and if I didn't shoot my first rabbit with it, it must have been one of the first. It had a Weaver 4x scope mounted on top, and an ugly grind-to-fit recoil pad that was neither of those 2 things - I think it was to increase the length of pull. Anyway, I never used it much because it was louder and more expensive to shoot than my suppressed .22LR, so it sat in my safe and got shot maybe a few times a year.

This year I got an itch to do something with it, I hate guns that don't get used. I considered weird ideas like sleeving the barrel to .17HMR and putting a nicer scope on it, but eventually found Skinner Sights, and bought a set. I also got my local gunsmith to dig a factory Winchester buttplate out of his box of misc. It's now a really fun and practical gun, and I've been shooting it a lot.

Me and a hare with the 9422, about age 10

And, an awful photo of me while in the process of shooting 138 rabbits with it on Sunday morning:
    Wildman and Wirehunt like this.
