Just get a police permit and get it couriered easy as abit daunting 1st time but easy as once you know the process
Otherwise try hunting and fishing or guncity may do it for you.
Hunting and fishing used to do shop transfer but won’t now unless you buy the rifle from one of there other stores ie a second hand rifle from Wellington store they will send it to an auckland store but not private sales now as far as im aware
You could talk to gun city they may do it
But the mail order form process is pretty easy
Fastways in Hamilton are easy to deal with, will send it to the Christchurch Fastways depot for about $30.
More meplat, more better.
I use NZC no problem. Have to take it in to the depo on drop off. The bolt must go in a separate bag/box and on a different day. Must be signed for on drop off/ collect at the other end.
On receiving guns at work, best if you are around or own the business.
Have been grumped at once by courier driver because person sending it had not declared it as a gun. Was kind of obvious from the packaging.
Use a hard case or lots of cardboard.

I know that with Couriers outside of main centers you have to phone ahead to see if they will deliver. I'm in Northland and depending upon where the item is going I may change couriers. Different companies structure the runs differently based upon their core customers delivery/pickup sites. If you are on the route then you should be able to get a drop off delivery.
But in the end if you are rural you may have to bite the bullet and have it sent to the nearest depo/agent then drive in.
ie I send stuff to family at Cookes beach (Whitianga, Coromandal Peninsular) but they have to drive in to Whitianga to collect or it will end up on the RD run and take an extra 4 days or longer.

Ring the courier head office and ask them on what they require for firearms, the local agents are not always up with the current rules or just guess, and get a price
I had trouble with the local Fastways agent on price but had a quote from the Hamilton office for $25.00 not the $40 they tried to charge as your rifle is in Hamilton
ring Fastways Hamilton and talk to them I found them very helpful, the rules keep changing you need to get the the latest.
My local hunting and fishing shipped a rifle to me so cant see why they wouldnt do the same for you. 40 bucks. Cheers
Last rifle i shiped was to Dunedin from auckland with fastway
Only depot to depot as fastway will not deliver firearms to residential addresses or so im told by their staff last 2 rifles have been sent this way
Was in a big wood case and waighed aprox 6-8kg $42 all up
Sent on Wednesday arvo and arrived for pick up Friday
Issue with the shops doing it is when something goes wrong ( lost late damaged etc) it suddenly seems to be the shops fault and the shop has to do all the running around to sort it out as it was on their trade account .
Once a shop has had to through the claims process for a item being sent on behalf thats gets messed up they wont touch sending stuff for people again . The paper work is painful
