More than ideal just change out the scope for a redfield or something better than the POS that is on it. I have that model in 7mm08 and I like the feel of it, plus the trigger can be adjusted if the factory pull is too heavy for your liking. Only changes I have made so far to the rifle only because of shot stringing is removing front pressure pads and sanding the left rail of the barrel channel to stop the barrel touching the left side of the channel.

Falconhell they are a good firearm and would be a good first rifle for your young fella. I have one in 243 and the only thing I find a bit annoying is that there is no floor plate so you have to feed out the rounds if not used. Other than that it is an accurate little rifle with a great trigger mechanism.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Are H&F offering a suppressed combo in the marlin X7 range I knew about the vangards but not the marlins, so what breed of suppressor are they getting kitted out with?. Oh yeah good to see another member from MO site on here

this is what my XS7 7mm08 can do. Ignore the flyers/pulled shots had a semi 223 going off beside me the tight group was after the 223 had shut up and I stopped getting hit by the odd bit of brass bouncing off my leg. Used privi partizan 120gr HP, moving over to 150gr federal blue box.

Take a look at a HOWA if your in the 1k ish price bracket, scoped in stainless for 1099 from memory. And make sure it has a Hogue stock on it, they are imo the most comfortable stock ever made! they also have a really nice rubberised grip texture to em,and the recoil pad is really spongey... check em out you cannot go wrong! If i were you I'd buy him a 7mm08, he will be fine with it recoil wise and you can shoot a 7mm08 quite a bit further than a 243 on much bigger game! Nothing gets up after taking a 7mm08,its DEAD no questions asked!

Whack an animal with an 80gr from a .243 and it is toast in a big way. Yep howas are good and accurate can't fault em they make actions for weatherby. Either way whatever falconhell buys as long as it is not a mossberg ATR100 or 4x4 he is a win win situation. My honest opinion forget the suppressed combo for now and invest in the glass department as the scopes are the same as a kilwell huntsman and they are crap. When I get the chance the crapola is coming off and I will be ordering a burris FF2 & burris Rimfire scope deal from optics planet for $219US

So for his money he could get the marlin for $800 plus a burris FF2 scope through optics planet and still cut in under or a smidge over
$1K, With the howa he gets a crappy nikko sterling scope for his 1K

I take it burris are not kind to those warranty wise when they refuse to buy scopes locally then, If I was to get a VX1 I may aswell get a Redfield Revolution same guts as VX1 and comes off the same assembly line.

just make sure the mag clip does not break or you will have to buy a whole new stock, the 770 does not have a very good reputation should have gone for a 700 would have been a better rifle than what you just paid for.
