I like to buy "nice" well made gear that lasts for what ever hobby or interest. Usually it works without fuss and is reliable. My rifles and shotguns and optics are no exception

When I am done with it my nephews and nieces will get the "nice" gear to play with as I am sure it will still be "nice" gear then..............................

I dont really get hung up on brand names rather actual quality.

I will say however that the American "inset brand" hunting clothing lasts way longer and generally better over all quality than the "Stoney Creeks" and such made for NZ brands.

I have been savings my pennies to buy a nice Perazzi one day. Never shot one saw few in clubs shooting one. I don't know what I like about those but I just want one.

Does that make me a snob?

I thought you would have taken this opportunity @andyanimal31 to admit to your 'Nightforce scope snobbery'.
A good job and a good wife has been the ruin of many a good hunter.

I dont think there is any firearms snobbery in NZ - (maybe a little from Sako owners) to be honest we just dont have the really high grade rifles and shotguns here that are seen overseas to create any serious class type division.

Depends on the reason you want to buy it.
If there is part of you who is buying it because it will make you 'look good' to others that mostly can't afford to have such a quality item....then yes you would be classed as a snob.

I think even Tikka owners can look down on Remington 700 or Howa 1500 rifles....I don't think you need 'high-grade' rifles for snobbery to come out.

Nah, I don't have a trying to "Look good" bone in me. As I said I don't know but I am sure its not about looking down at others. Maybe because those guys were always shooting better scores and their guns are neatly packed in cases etc whereas I was shooting club guns with moving hinges and faulty triggers.

I think its just innocent aspiration than anything else.

My main rifle has evolved over time by picking good deals off this site, its not a carbonlite, but as near as to me, for less than one third of the price. The other rifle is a Savage. Enjoy them both for what they are.

I love my tikka it shoots better than I do but…
Couple of weekends ago we were sighting our rifles in and I got to shoot a Sako carbonlight in 308, from the moment I touched it I began hearing angels sing. Let’s just say I might just be in love.
Could never afford one but they don’t come in 300wsm anyway

It's well known, no need to rub it in to those that are not as wise as myself!
To be fair my rifles are my tools and if you ever see them you will know what I mean.
I'm more about what works well and won't let me down.
My first high end scope is a 6x24x56 diavari tactical which in now over 16 years old.
It still blows me away the glass and lookability through it.
I believe buy any accurate rifle at <2k range and poke the rest into glass and ammo and use it.

This is the mindset I’ve encountered most often, usually leaves me wondering who the snob really is.
