I've always done my own blueing since my first slug gun as a kid. My dad's mate handed me an old .22 when I was about 12 and said I could have it if I took the time to fix it up. When he saw the result he decided he wanted it back! As always, the quality of finish is so much to do with the prep work, so if you don't have the time or inclination to do a thorough job, I'd leave it to someone who has a passion for it. I rust blued an old shotgun a few years back and wasn't happy with it the first time so stripped and redid the job, it came up quite stunning but would have been easier to have done right the first time round.
