Hey Guys,
Has anyone attempted to import a Rifle Scope from the US?
Do you need an import permit for these?
Were there any issues in regards to muck around and time taken to get from Customs to your Door?
Thanks in advance!

yes you need a permit
you need to pick it up from customs as they wont send it from customs to you anymore
Customs don't send them, it has nothing to do with them....
NZ Post won't ship them, so if you use USPS expect to have to personally pick it up from say Auckland or get a real courier company to pick it up for you...
If you use Fedex they will send firearms parts because they understand the fact the everyone within a 5 KM radius of it is safe....unlike NZ Post....
This situation is so frustrating it is unbelievable, IMHO some Muppet has interpreted the legislation in an unintended way .....

What Bill999 said.
Also customs processing time could be aywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months at the moment on anything to do with guns, unless your lucky and it slips under the radar...
currently having a shit fight with NZpost about an accessory, it was released by customs on the 1 nov, been chasing it, the shits havent notified me that they are not going to send it either. seems someone put it in the wronng spot and left it there.

Changed a bit since my US mate brought me a VX6 from Florida.
After colfo have sorted the rest of this government shit after march2020, it would be good if they could send their lawyers after the nz post case
Funny as they must be targeting items from the states as I’ve bought in 2 scopes on two different occasions from vector optics in China.
Never got held up by customs or NZ Post!
They have told me that EVERYTHING from Brownells gets stopped, and thrown into a waiting bin...
Not sure about other overseas vendors.
Anyone got any recommendatioons for courier companies to pick stuff up from the mail center? NZcouriers say they wont pick up from the competition, Fastway (or whoever the hell they are called now) cant understand basic english let along be given directions for a pickup and DHL are as known, fucking useless.
I used Fastways, was not all plain sailing though the courier went to the post people near Auckland airport they said they did not have it so he went away.
I chased up customs through my very helpful MP's assistant turns out your courier has to ask for customs people who will give it to the courier.
So Fastways goes back and customs gave him my goods, I gave my hard copy Permit to Import into Christchurch Customs prior to the corier picking it up who asked what they were to do with it I said your customs here's the required document all smiles and left, the guys in customs seemed good types.
I also emailed customs Auckland stating Fastways were coming to pick up my goods again my helpful MP's assistant helped with this so customs had no reason not to give Fastways my goods I think I even told them the name of the actual Fastways courier.
Just over two months since my goods arrived in Auckland I picked my goods up at the Fastways depot Christchurch.
So pretty straight forward really (yea right) I was at the stage of flying from Christchurch to Auckland to pick it up myself and thought I would check what the situation was bringing firearms parts back on the plane struth that was an other drama yes no maybe !!!!!
Yea they have made it so easy for us to get our bits and bobs, if you cant get it they don't need to go to the hassle of banning it!
Yea pretty straight forward !
Any shops got 2209 in the South Island?

Some powders are roughly equivalent, so one must adapt or die. Powder equivalents - ADI World Class Powders and Ammunition
Any permit needed to import a scope/sling/bipod for an air gun?
