    Rifle Thread

    Hey all,

Sorry this is far out of my knowledge, this guy is selling a suppressor on trademe:

    https://www.trademe.co.nz/sports/hun...67af257953cf77

He doesn't know what the thread type is, can any of your keen eyes tell?

    Thanks for your help!

Edit: Thought I should mention I'm asking because I'm after a suppressor for my .308

Pitch seems to be 24 threads per inch, so my guess is either 1/2x24 (standard on .22LR, and my old gunworks .308 suppressor) or 3/8x24 (standard on .308 AR10's etc).
Get a photo taken of the crown of the barrel to determine which it is.

looks like 1/2x20 to me, have never heard of 1/2x24 being standard 22lr thread, 1/2x20 yes, if it was threaded by gunworks then pretty likely it will be, they thread most sporter weight barrels 1/2x20 unless they have been shortened more than a couple inches

    1/2 x 20 is the standard 22LR thread, 5/8 x 24 is the standard AR10 thread

By the look of the pics it could well be 9/16 x 18, but its difficult without the diameter

    1/2 x 20 is a little average on a 308 muzzle to be fair

Thanks for all the replies guys. Appreciate you all!

He's going to contact gunworkx I believe and I will update here so the "mystery" can be solved. My .308 came with a threaded barrel also but no information as to who done it.. I'll have to post a pic up tomorrow :p

Kind of assumed my rifle would be 5/8x24.. Read somewhere that this was the most common for .308

It's what they put on mine. Wasn't a great deal of meat to go any bigger, but could have gone for a finer thread.

As kiwi Greg said, it looks like 9/16-18 , which is a common thread often seen on gun works threaded guns.

Shall I take the photo facing down the barrel with the ruler measuring like the width?

Digital callipers or micrometer even better.

Looks a coarse thread. 7 threads over 9mm gives it a pitch of about 20tpi or 1.25mm.

Sorry guys, although I think I did a pretty good job with the photo, I don't have any of those other more accurate means of measurement.
    Does this help?

Edit: hm it looks quite dark once uploaded, I'll try alter the photo to make it brighter
