    Rifle weight breakdown

Hoping to start a thread showing rifle weight comparisons that shows more info then just the overall weights of a rifle. Anyone got similar info stashed away from the past or present and want to contribute?

Can do this only when I'm home from traveling so Feb, both my rifles I would consider to be mid range weight.

This could be an interesting thread. Here is a Kimber Mountain Ascent 84M broken out into parts. The barrel is the standard 22" in 6.5CM.

For the added humour value only - I saw a nice Volquartsen 10/22 today with a Nightforce NSX 3-15x50 hanging off it. I'm not sure which bit would weigh more, the carbon barrel/carbon stocked 10/22 or the chunk on top of it. Also not sure which bit costs more!!!

Definitely include scope in assessment of all up weight, there’s some big differences in scopes. Of course weight is not the only factor to consider when choosing scope/rifle set up.

    Howa superlite scoped bipod

Total weight 2.464 includes M8 4x scope and bipod legs, I’m still yet to sort a bracket to mount them from alloy or carbon but won’t add much. Pics have the breakdowns.

I find it interesting your stock came in so much heavier then mine. Is your stock the same as the one on the left?Name: 20241026_140050.jpg

Yes the gun looks identical. Ive done some work and added a big heavy cheekpiece. Also put silicone in places so the butt doesn't fill up with water when I use it as a pole for river crossing. They were both good ideas but build up the weight. The cheekpiece is a consequence of using a 50mm scope and inefficiently high mounts, so think about that when you plan your rifle.

It sounds as if stepping up from 308 to 270 length added 35g to the bolt.

That's a match to mine. The receiver + bolt + trigger&screw + lug, and with the weights I gave earlier, they add to 575 grams.
What is somewhat concerning for Ascent owners is that when the magazine, follower and spring, and the 2 action screws are added in, that takes the weight up to 665 grams, and given that Roarless20's Montana came in at 688, that means the Ascent's fancy bolt fluting and milled out bolt handle and extractor give a weight reduction of only 23 grams.
