Wanting a suppressor for a 22mag in 1/2x28.
What are peoples preferences?
What about your choice of suppressor though
I'll be trying a DPT for my next rimfire, I like the idea that baffles can be added for increased suppression and the fact it can be disassembled for cleaning.
Gun city’s Hushpower Works best for me
Pretty happy with my DPT. Helps they’re localish n don’t have to worry about mail order forms...

Many centerfire suppressors including Gun City's Hushpower sold in 1/2-28 with alloy threads. Does anyone know if it's an aluminium alloy or some other type of alloy?
Gun City sells its Hushpower 370 Centrefire Silencer 30Cal with thread size of 1/2 x 28 TPI
Their advert states:
"Lightweight design - an alloy body machined out of one solid alloy bar (the dense alloy material is also better for sound reduction than stainless steel).
30Cal- (10mm Hole) will do any non Magnum calibres 6mm through to 8mm. Like 243, 6.5x55, 270, 7mm-08, 308, 8mm. Thread size is 1/2 x 28 TPI..."
takes a bit of care and time for 1/2 x28 to screw in, i had one thread ruined , got in 1/5 stuck, then realized it went in a wrong angle. for those baffle ones apply a 'lot' of grease or just finger tight or they'll stuck, i also had one stainless baffle ruined because of this. but i still like it being light and able to take apart.
My Hushpower Braveheat was great, although I only used it with 22LR. Sold it because I wanted an over-barrel suppressor and got a Hardy which is also good. If you're serious about noise control, then what about a centrefire suppressor?
Not everyone is having issues with that thread, maybe just me. Some barrels had the end crowned a bit easy to screw in. some are flat.
If someone is buying a rim fire suppressor. Do advise buy one that can be taken apart for cleaning, lot of people shoot 50 per visit thinking it’s not worth it cleaning, until the fifth time the carbon inside is like cemented shit, no gun oil not even sonic washer can dissolve it.
+1 for Braveheart suppressors. I'm upto 4k worth of rounds and still going strong.
As for a license to own parts and suppressors, that's just for mail order is it not??
Put a DPT suppressor on my 22 mag just recently . quietened it down a lot. Still loud but has lost the crack.
You say your not ment to store your gun with suppressor on ?
DPT for me. Swapped between 17hmr and 22.
Yeah, best to clean and separate silencers/suppressors from the firearm. They collect a lot of carbon deposits, and leaving it on a barrel, with the suppressor facing up, can eventually cause solid carbon deposits in your crown and barrel
Also when you have steel and alloys (or just different metals), in contact with each other, you have the potential for galvanic corrosion – especially if the rifle is wet or storage is damp. Given time his might lead to so much corrosion you end up having to cut the suppressor off, and your barrel down.
Last Dpt i went direct because of price difference in local shop.(17hmr) Other dpt i brought when i purchased a new rifle so i told them to match your online price. Pin in the arse when you live rural dealing with paper work
Shit probably should have mentioned it's going on a semi. I'd like it to be able to deal with a reasonable volume of fire. Maybe a centre fire suppressor is a good option. Did I read somewhere that DPT can shorten the overbarrel section of their suppressors? I would like 75mm back, . I have 80.4mm from the muzzle to handguard. Shoulder is 11.8mm back from the muzzle. Dont really want to go muzzle forward if I go center fire.
the closest one for your case is the hardy overbarrel rimfire 80mm back from the muzzle end. too bad its a one piece. dpt has more than 100m over barrel, despite it can be shorten, the threaded end is smaller in dia, when its on still look like a distance from hand guard, id been mucking around with it, ended up chopping the barrels to suit.
@DPT I cant find that one on your site?
Its not listed as its a custom product. Its the same price as the non magnum over barrel. Email office@dpt.co.nz if you’d like more info or if you’d like to buy one.
Thanks for the advice everyone. Bugger about the DPT being 95mm minimum I'd have been all over that. The hardy is just a bit too close for my liking and its pretty steep for a rimfire suppressor.
Sorry for hijack however its related; ok to store rimfire with suppressor on? Or definitely off like centrefire?
Metal is metal and threads are threads.
They will still rust on or otherwise get locked into the thread.
Just store it off
