    Rino Work with Other Radios?

    Hi Guys

Been reading some of the discussion of the Rino, I haven't seen any reference to this but someone told me once that Garmin Rino doesn't always work with other radios - Uniden, or whatever. Has anyone had problems? Or had no problems? Either would be useful info!

    cheers

My rhino works fine with other radios. Best part is I can run mine at 5W as opposed to their .5W so I find I can be heard a lot further away.

Cool thanks. Maybe it's not really a problem at all.

Yep mine certainly works with Uniden and Midland radios because that's what my mates have.

So long as your rino is nz (or ausy?), it will work with any other make that uses the PRS Chanel's on UHF.

I couldn't get mine to work with other radios but I think the channels are all mixed up, local guy at HnF knows a lot about them and was going to show me how the channels match but I had sold it by then

Like @Pengy said, ensure you have a NZ/Aust unit and it will be fine on UHF. Most smaller UHF radios are only 0.5 watt, so if your mates are getting radios, ensure they get 2w or greater you will struggle to receive their signal on the hills or bush.

The rhinos work with all other radios - as above the rhino has 5w and 2w function which is generally greater than the cheap radios you can buy - the problem i sometimes get in conversing with other radios wattage miss match

It has been mentioned here before, but worth also keeping in mind that if you have to resort to using AA batteries in your Rino, you will only have a 2w radio output.
Not a biggy, and from what I have seen, pretty rarely needed as the inboard batteries last well.
