    Rossi 8117. -budget 17hmr

Gidday gents - been looking at the Rossi 8117 in 17hmr, seems could be a neat little rifle for $350,
Already have a scope and suppressor I can put on it - just after something a little more point and shoot than my 10/22 for rabbits as they’re very aware of people where I shoot and getting close presents a challenge for when I take the missus out.

Opinions on them? Are they too budget? Seems the next option in 17hmr all hang around the 1k mark.

I bought one to test for velocity when cut down short, ran out of time so haven't cut it up yet. Only tried it briefly at the range, cycled fine and grouped about moa from memory. Good value I reckon.

Hey Mate, thanks for that - not a lot of reviews out there on them but really for the price I think it’s worth a gamble - will check one out next time I go past my local.

I got one last year for about that price new, got it for the same reasons as you. Has taken quite a few bunnies and a turkey or 2. My son nailed a bunny at 185m with it. Definitely a great wee rifle.

Only criticism is under 40m it has a tendency to cut bunnies in half.

I’ve had one in .22lr, below average trigger, but that’s my only criticism, for the money it was reliable, accurate(well under an inch at 50m) and consistant

Yea txted the owner of my local to ask and his feedback was the same as I’ve gotten here, crude trigger and magazine but good accuracy especially for the money. Probably pick one up in a week or 2
