    Rossi lever action

Im still looking around for a fun gun. I have my boring and sensible gun.

What I'm thinking about doing is having a Rossi lever action 20" and having the mag shortened so a Dan Hardy or something other can be fitted however if I use a Muzzle forward can this might allow me to still use the iron sights.
Will the barrel be able to support the weight with the mag reduced in length?

The goal is a 80m red, sika & fallow deer gun running subs as heavy as possible ie 300gn

    Your Thoughts?

I run subsonic 300gr Hornady XTPs out of my 16" Rossi 44mag.

They are pretty quiet unsilenced and would be great silenced.

    Accuracy is good too.

Next would be to try some heavy cast boolits.

    Cheers

Any place to look for a 16" blued 44?

Yep Reloads doing 1050fps at the muzzle.

Good killing power out to about 100m and accurate enough too.

MV needs to be less than 1080fps to be subsonic.

The 16" holds 8 rounds, if you shorten the magazine tube to fit a silencer it would still probably hold four or five rounds.

I shot a couple of Goats at about 60m, they went down quick ..... kinda felt sorry for them afterwards.

Haven't shot a deer with this load........... Yet!

    Cheers

Nice! Funny thing is there is a Rossi single shot with a Hardy can at my local HnF for $799.00 I think it's a bit steep. Going to see if the guy will take 700

Use a sub 44mag alot on the deer and it works well. Just use the Berry`s copper washed 240gr HP from Reloaders as well as 310gr cast loads. As mentioned good to 100mts but have taken Red Stags to about 140mts with hold over and fingers crossed.

I have a Rossi Stainless Single shot here with a home build suppressor as well in 44mag, could be pursuaded to sell it as the Ruger 96/44 in the picture is now the main night gun.
