Can anyone point me in the right direction for where I can find a ruger #1 in either a 303 or 7x57/ 275 Rigby?
I'm feeling the need to move on from the 7mm08 tikka (forgive me, i was young and didn't know better)

Every year they make the #1 in a few specific chamberings, and the next year they’ll do a different lot. See what they’re currently making them in, and if it’s either 303 or 7x57 you can simply order one, or wait till next year and hope it’s on the bill. Otherwise keep scanning trade me and hope like hell.
More meplat, more better.
Nothing to forgive you for there, Tikka's are fine rifles. Sorry don't know where you could get a Ruger No 1 in 303 or 7x57. There was a 303 on TM a while back.
Have you tried contacting Wilsons Hunting and Shooting in Whanganui? They always have a few #1's listed so may know of one? I did see one in 303 advertised recently; but can't remember where sorry.....
Umm wouldn't recommend the 303, they are not the most accurate. Don't know what happened but couldn't get better then 2-3 moa with all types of loads.
7mm Mauser is a much better cartridge too.
A Farquhasen action deserves a proper flanged cartridge. Go303
Beg to differ on that. My one was shortened when I got it and I was warned that it did not like light 150gr pills. So first thing I tried was the 150gr highland. three shots touching at 100m. tried it at 300m and got a group UNDER 2 inches. Even my Varmint rifle struggles with that. SO I did what anyne would do, I followed his advice and tried the 215gr Woodleigh round nose. Hits things like a dammed hammer. Every animal I have aimed at has gone FLOP. not run, not jumped and not moved. Just dropped. One of them had even run off after taking 3x 7mmo8 hits and each should have dropped it.
I did not jump in earlier for 2 reasons; 1) mine is not for sale, and 2) If it was I already have four mates begging to buy it.
I do know of a 375 H&H magnum Ruger #1 that the owner is thinking of letting go. It is mid 70s manufacture, has seen some sights and places and is currently treasure by its owner, but at $140 per 20 rounds, he is having trouble feeding it as much as he would like.....
Ring wilsons sports in Whanganui, last time I was there he had a few, .257 robbers, 6.5x55 and .35 whealan, and a I think a .308, had a few on order. he can get in them in with a bit of a wait. I almost ordered a stainless mannlicher.
I go 7x57.
I had a 1S in 300 H&H, that I foolishly sold, as it was rather heavy, and I wanted a bolt action 300 H&H, the number one shot 180 gr very well and I shot a few deer, with it.
@southernman if you are interested in the 375 H&H................I know if I ever was to sell the 303 I would regret it. It would not be foolish decision as it would be thought about long and hard, it would be a decision made after considering all pros and cons and even being that considered, I know I would still regret it.
With the .303 in any rifle there is a problem with the bore dimensions best bullets to use are cast or custom made to fit the bore and throat of each rifle
the standard chamber reamers are made for 215 grain RN and 174 grain fmj's that's why the accuracy is crap with 150 grain bullets in old guns
the Ruger has the standard chamber spec's so accuracy could be hit or miss I do wish I had one all the same and a 7x57
