    Ruger American rebarrel options

Has anyone out there built a wildcat on a 223(.384) bolt face? I acquired a ruger American ranch sans its barrel and wantto do something with it. I was going to get the bolt face opened up to .473 and build a 358win or 375-08 but that may prove to be more hassle than it’s worth. Rather than just the Normal fast twist .223 or 300blk I’d like some other ideas. It will be a deer rifle for under 400yds. I would like to be able to run subs so the 300hamr and 350legend both have some merit, but either way I’d be interested in other peoples ideas. And no @MartyHenry I’m not going to make a 358BPE 1-1/4” bolt action 🤣

The legend just a "marketing reinvention of the Winchester 351 self loading really" would be my suggestion if you want to go fast and slow, no faffing with the bolt head, good selection of pistol bullets of reasonable weight for subsonic.
As to a BPE, You have a 50/70 that could easily be rechambered to 3 inch if you want to go there

    223 Ackley
    22 Nosler
    6x45 Rem
    6x45 Ackley
    22-204(My 1st choice)/22 Terminator
    6.5-204

    These would be my suggestions.

8.6 blackout is quite good fun but not as cheap to run as a 350 legend ect

Had a quick look at the 350 Legend and the 30Hamr - I found that I researched the 350 L a while ago - potent little cartridge.

    Go 350 Legend.

400m might be a little much to ask?

    6 x 47 is a good round - uses the .223 full-length blank basic brass

277 Wolverine looks promising also, but I’m not sure who would have a reamer. 7mmTCU considered also(I acquired 50rnds in a bulk lot a few years back)

Would that not require a bigger bolt face than .384 could allow?

Year but with the bolt handle being removable it a super easy job to open the bolt face
On them unlike other bolts that need a drive arbor ect

@blip was the cost reasonable? Was customs and issue and do I need all 3 reamers(resized, rougher and finisher)?

I thought it was. No problems with customs, its just a machine tool. Im not sure what reamers you would need I rechambered a 22 hornet to a k hornet so just used a finishing reamer. Someone with more experiance will know

Well if it’s not a big job to open the bolt face then I will make enquires to get that done instead. @blip do you want the job?
