    Ruger extractor problem

    Hey guys.
Since putting an mk2 barrel on my mk1 m77 ive felt a noticeable change when trying to chamber a round. The extractor seems to be struggling to make its way over the lip of the brass and will even dent the brass on the edges a little. On one hand once ive got the bolt down and fired the spent case is definitely gonna come out but its just made a relatively smooth, preet rigid! What to do?

If the bolt face is the same as on the MK11 you could have the bottom machined away so it picks the cartridge up behind the extractor. Controlled round feed like the more modern Rugers.

is this just when you drop a round into the chamber and try push the extractor past it? If so a click/clunk is normal

if it is when feeding out of the mag then yea not so normal

Yeah its only when pushing the extractor past it. Feeds into the chamber as per normal. Only reason I say its an issue is because it requires physical effort to actually lock the bolt down now and it never used to. Took it to the gunsmith anyways.

Had a little bit of material removed from the extractor and buffed it right up. Good as gold now.
