Nearly bought a 303 one price scared me off, should have hardened up. Flanged cases are the only "proper" food for falling block and double rifles imo.

Yeah I saw one in P Nth H&F, wish I had ponied up and bought it. Read a review on one once and they said they were long throated to the point that accuracy was a bit of an issue...

Read the same article probably. That put me off a bit.

Accuracy was not a problem on the one I tried. 150gr, 180gr or 220 gr all shot nice wee key holes at 100m for me. I wish I could have made it mine.....

I know of four of the latest run 303 #1, 2014 I think, the local high end sports store (Prophet river firearms)(good place, for a visit on a rain day) in Canada, bought in 100 Ruger #1 303, on a special run, and have shot two, all are good around 1" or slightly more, most guys I know use the 174gr if they can get it,
see he has a bunch of new ones in, .222, .243, .280, .9.3x74, and .400 nitro, and .375, hummmm,

who you order that from ?

scope, that's just about perfect without one,
fit a trop safety, so the brass doesn't catch during eject, like on the original Ruger safety, and of you go.

My brother has one in .303 he purchased new a few years back (he's a Ruger No1 fan - used to shoot one in 45-70 as his main hunting rifle). He finally got around to developing some hand loads a month back and was getting extremely good accuracy with it.

I owned a SS Varmint in 22-250. Replaced the factory mounts with an after market upgrade and did a trigger kit. Finding a scope that will fit within the constraints of the mount positioning can be tricky. It was finicky accuracy wise on what you feed it, so lots of load development was required. If you are after big calibers, the falling block is the strongest action to go for, and if you are after long barrels in a standard overall length, the falling block can give you and extra 4" due to no bolt.
