    Ruger Trimag connectors

Hi all, has anyone tried to get an import permit for a trimag connector in recent times? Seems hard to find out if they are now legal or illegal? Anyone out there with an update?

they're available on trademe - legality? Depends on how its interpreted technically it should be fine as it is 3 separate magazines that need to be changed and cant feed each other... Police may differ there though.

depending on your intended use for it - you may be better off fitted the magazine extensions to a couple of mags a just carry the spares - the extensions will make swapping easier and you wont have the extra width of the tri shape.

I have used trimag adapters before and found them excellent. The three mags sit well under the rifle. But I do note the option of mag extenders. The beauty of the trimag setup is you don’t have to carry spare mags in your pocket. You can also get trimag pouches.

I saw at least one import permit declined for these, justification given was that their import and use wasn't consistent with the intent of the new arms act.

Remember of course that they gave themselves the power to ban anything at will by order in council - raise the issue and expect the ban hammer.

I'd go with the extender idea myself.
Not sure what you mean? The trimag device has no springs? The mags are simply plain jain Ruger mags which in my experience are excellent. The trimag device simply couples them. If you are talking mag springs and the fact two mags are upside down when inserted then when I used them years ago I didn’t have this issue.
