Anyone got one of these or an 85 Grizzly? If so what did it cost? Does it have a steel floorplate?
Cheers
Tim

They have a removable steel box mag - so no "floor plate". The bottom of the mag is steel though
RRP on the grizzley is $4299
and RRP on the Delux is $4999
These are just RRPs though so may not exactly match what a retailer would sell them for.
The caveat is the Delux price is based off the last landed cost - and there are none left in the country (at wholesaler), so price would no doubt have gone up a bit since they last came in due to exchange rates etc etc.
The only grizzleys available (at wholesaler) are in .308
Thanks Chris much appreciated. My father is looking at them for a Safari in July, but if the importer has none then it might be a stretch.
If you let me know what caliber you are looking for I can tell you what’s available.
There is probably some suitable options (assuming you are looking for a 375h&h or similar ), in the brown bear , Hunter & kodiak.
RRP based off the ones currently in stock is $3499.
It would no doubt change if you were after a different caliber as above RRP is based off the landed cost of the ones currently available.
Also caveat - its a recommended retail price only. In the end retailers can sell it for whatever they wish.

We are hunting plains game. He was after .270 or 30-06 so that he could use the rifle on his return to NZ (375 H&H not so much). Those other models don't have the same wood/blue features he is after. He's quite particular in that he wants a classic shape stock (not monte carlo) with a higher grade of wood, open sights, and barrel mounted sling swivel. All exterior surfaces must be blued metal (not anodized alum etc) He hates .308 on principle so although 30-06 isn't that different in the shorter barreled Grizzly, I'm not going to try and talk him into it either. I also think that .308 isn't old-school/classic enough for a once in a lifetime hunting opportunity like Africa.
It would be special order only, and unfortunately would not be possible to guarantee it would be here by July.
Nothing currently available meets every requirement, but if you want a Sako, before July and in .270 or .30-06 these would be the only options that partially fit the bill.
Hunter .270win with open sight
Bavarian .270WSM with open sights
Special Edition 85 Finnbear .30-06 with open sights
Classic .270win - but does not have open sights
The special edition 85 Finnbear is probably closest to what you are looking for. It has uprated wood with ebony fore end, blued, open sights and is on 30-06. Does not have barrel mounted sling swivel & has a montecarlo stock however I was pointing it around and it comes up perfectly.
Here are some images - the photos do not do the wood justice.
Thanks Chris, i'll forward this to dad to see if it floats his boat. Could you also post some pics of the Classic 85 in .270? Potentially we could get some sights and sling mount for it and the stock design is a little closer to what he was after. I'm starting to be tempted myself...
Sure, the wood is not as nice but its not as expensive either
Honestly, the Finnbear is setup much better for open sights, it comes up like a shotgun. The drop at the butt of the stock puts your eye in the perfect position to look straight through the open sights.
There is a 85 grizzly in 375 H&H on special in Dunedin Hunting and thieving for $2999
Warm Barrels!
Wow. Didn't know you could get that nice wood on them from Factory.
Are they hand checkered?
