Sako 85 Finnlight 2 Weight. 300 WSM to 7mm SAUM Conversion

Does anyone have one of these with a DPT magnum can and a VX5 scope (or equivalent setup) and can comment on how heavy the overall setup is?

I have come by one in 300 WSM that is teasing me to convert to a 7mm SAUM as an upgrade on my Rem 700 build..

I imagine it’s just a simple barrel change but if anyone has any experience converting one of these I would be keen to hear your thoughts too.

    Cheers

I thought about a 7mm saum a while ago but got cold feet. Brass can be just tricky enough to get hold of. Just maybe a 7-6.5prc might be an idea. No shortage of brass and sounds simple to run. Kiwi Greg has done a few.

I'm scratching my head, what's wrong with the 300 wsm? Are man changing from tough guys to mice? Man up.

Interesting to determine cartridge selection as a measure of someone’s mental and/or physical resilience. Got anything helpful to add in relation to my questions? Your unsolicited opinion is noted.

What’s the mag length in the Sako, that could be the only issue if you’re still wanting to shoot 160gr or heavier.
I run my Saum at 2.935 coal with 168gr bergers, wouldn’t want to seat much deeper than that.

Had no problems getting good ADG brass and all the other bits I needed for my 7mm SAUM - love it.
