Thread: Sako 85/Tikka T3 barrels

Hi Guys ,
I read recently on another forum a thread that Sako 85 and Tikka T3 use the same barrels, so after looking around berettas nz web site and struggling to find any other confirmation, I had a look at the USA one,
Once I downloaded the 85 manual and the T3 manual it seems that they quote the very same part number for both the T3 barrel and the 85 barrel.
Has anyone else been able to get any other confirmation that a T3barrel will fit straight onto an 85 action?

They do as put a tikka 3006 barrel on an 85 sako

I thought it was only 75s and T3s that were compatible but obviously not

Cant see why Sako would bother having different threads sizes between models of the same action size.

That was also my understanding but I cant see American T3s and 85s having a separate standard to nz ones...
I'll post the manuals when I sort out uploading pdfs.

75s and tikka t3 are for sure the same in the 308 length action as I have done it
If I remember correctly the 85 had a different thread

Sako isn't going to admit that tikka barrels and sako barrels are the same as it erodes the 2k more you pay for a sako

Forget that and start looking at threads on forums about barrel threads that will be the golden goose

But like I said I'm pretty sure I remember sako 85s having different threads to sako 75s

Have a tikka barrel being threaded onto a 85 at the moment. No one has mentioned anything about the thread needing redone

I can say for sure sako 85 thread fits an a7 action as I have had that done was a straight swap, and a7 and tikka are interchangeable if that helps ?

Does the 85 require a extractor cut bieng sort of CRF?

I can now confirm a Tikka Barrel fits an sako 85 action....
