For me it's always about available funds.
Usually when something like this turns up I don't have any and when I do have the funds nothing turns up

Funny how life seems to work like that aye, people probably thought there was going to be a regular supply but ya never know what the Euro guys will do.

Used to have a large selection of cals available in NZ but seems very limited nowadays
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

I've had a couple of Sako carbons, I must admit I'm not a big fan of the fat pistol grip ( I am getting used to my latest though ) & in saying that I would expect them to be very strong ( in an area that can be a weak point on some rifles ) one other issue I had with my mod 85 Mag action 300wm wearing opti's was the action is so long it really limits what scope / position you can mount, shes friggen tight & lastly was the stock felt great with that tacky finish but holy crap mud destroyed it .

One thing with Sako / Tikka though is they take stuff on & improve, while my new 90 can't take opti's it does have an inbuilt weaver style rail so you have more mounting point options, the finish is of a bare - rough texture, my new one being a short action helps but it's still a very fat stock all round. It's a lovely rifle to shot n carry even in the shit weather on a very dodgy steep track Brads, hunts & I were on in the weekend it performed well.

Seems the only pic I have on file are of around the house hunting hahahaha

A question for you guys with .223 Sako 85’s.
Mag length is 58 mm which is less than the tikka std mag at 61 ish?
Assume the throat is the same so you load your heavier pills to mag length and jump them or single feed?

In my tikka varmit with water mag I load heavies at 68 mm for a 80.5 Barnes on 25 of 2208.

Looking at a sporter. T3 or 85 ss laminated 1:8. Will only shoot heavies.

I shoot 73 eldm in mine shoot really well out to 600M it also likes the 77 tmk and 80 targex they are seated down into the case so are way shorter than my Tikka with a Waterman mag.
My Tikka probably shot a wee bit better maybe on a good day but I love the little Sako
