    For me it was the weight. I had read that they were not light, but I thought that it couldn't be to bad. But when i had it in my hands without a mag full of ammo and scope and rings I thought that it was a bit much to carry around. The version I had was a 24" barrel model and not the 20" as you can get it in. So it was just a bit long and heavy for me. I would do a 50/50 mix of tops and bush hunting, and it didn't really fit that bill. But who knows the 20" version might be a different kettle of fish.......

    It did fit nice, and with the adjustable cheek piece it was easy to adjust to have it feel just right. One thing though that bugged me after 2 minutes that i knew would probably bug me more over time was the magazine. Its sits proud...and its around the magazine area that i usually carry my rifle, so it just didn't fit the way i carried a rifle. plus, the magazine was rattly. It was easy to put in and out and had a nice solid click when inserted properly. however when fully inserted there was a lot of slop side to side and front to back.

    Still, at $2999 it was still a very nice gun. The action was nice and smooth, as you would expect. The stock had a great fit and the ejection port was nice, so no shells flicking up and hitting your scope. If I had a farm and that was where I was mostly going to use it, where I could carry it on a quad to a look out and shoot from I would definitely grab one.

    I’m a big fan of Sako in general but these look dog ugly to me. Now, that said, I applaud Sako for producing it but for me it’s a rifle designed for the US market, which has limited application in NZ. Ugly, heavy and expensive, but for anyone who disagrees, and no doubt many will, good luck and enjoy.

    Bergara B14 HMR is half the price and prolly just as capable.

    Had a look at one a few weeks ago. No more ugly than a tikka T3 when the first appeared. And we know while they took a little while to get traction the rest is history. I think the same philosophy applies to the S20, beauty is, what beauty delivers to those who want a cross over style rifle.

    Any S20 owners fit a 50mm obj optic to it ? and what height rings did you use? I'm thinking clearance could be an issue with this rifle.

    sorry if necro posts are frowned upon.

    @ilikepie

    One of our Delta Stryker buyers is fitting it to the S20
    The Stryker is 4.5-30x56
    One thing found out was the S20 would not take a Spuhr 1pc mount and needs 2 pc

    be interested to find out how that went, saw a 56 obj on it in a vid and it was mounted in the sako bridge and had sfa clearance, no chance of mounting it to the receiver pic rail at all by the look
