I run a 1-8 on one of mine and a 4-16 on the other. The 1-8 honestly gets the most use and is fine on small animals (goat/wallabies) out to 300 or so. A BDC reticle or mildot is really useful. Extra magnification can help you see better but not necessarily shoot better. I find a wider field of view more useful to be honest. I'm in the process of swapping number 2 to a NV scope largely influenced by tahr's experience and videos so that will be interesting.
