After shooting with the 223 for a couple of years now using a 3-9x scope I'd be looking at something that has 2 or 3x bottom end and up to 18x top end.
The 9x is only just ok out to 300m for accurate shots on small wallabies IMO.
I've shot Wally's out to 328 with a 2-7 set on seven, and you know you've got a long way to catch up to me in age. Anyway I do like my Vixen 3-12, but it's not top notch on 12 on dusk, I could see virtually in the dark at 4 power.
