    Scope fiitting Help please

Hi all, Finally purchased a scope for my P17 C&B .308 target rifle. Ended up with the Vortex Viper 6 - 24 x 50mm MOA EBR1. I was going to head out tomorrow to find some rings to get the height spot on. Has anyone got any good suggestions on which shop to go too for sizing etc? I was going to check out reloaders but hoping you guys might have some options for me. Also does anyone on here have a scope lapping kit that I could bring the rifle over too and fit it accurately. I can pay in beer Any advice greatly received. Cheers Brad

Could try Serious Shooters. They fit and bore sight for you. Doesn't get more relaxed than that

Cheers Tommy. Can they do the lapping or so they just fit tighten up as it is?

Don't know for sure, give them a yell and ask. They have a work bench in action most of the time so quite possibly.

I just use a 1" bright steel bar and get the lapping paste from any auto shop same as they use to seat car valves very easy to do but not all rings need it.

If you have the correct bases on the rifle go for a set of Burris Signature rings with the bushes - no lapping required, no ring marks on your nice scope, scope never moves. Also can fix major alignment issues with the offset bushes.
PS: I wouldn't let any gunshop fit my scope to my rifle. Watched a young guy working at GS Auck when they first opened carry out the complete procedure using a bat drill
Also the scope is a 30mm scope so if you do end up with rings that need lapping you will need a 30mm lapping bar.

Go for the Burris Signature rings I have them on a few rifles never had a problem getting a scope lined up with the off set inserts you can get quite a lot of elevation with out a rail

Do it yourself. There's good clips on you tube.
Sure a shop will chuck it on. But I doubt it will be to fit you.
And it looks like you will need to raise the cheek height to get it right.

Are they 1" or 30mm rings? I have a 1" lapping bar here you can use, but not 30mm.

30mm. I went to Serious Shooters today and they supplied and fitted some rings. Ended up with low rings and it is perfect. it is about 1mm off the barrel. Close as it can go! Can't wait to try it out tomorrow! Cheers for everyone's help.

Had a great day at the Riverhead Range. Zero'd it in beautifully. I added shims so it can't be taken past zero now. Was a very cold start to the day. Puddles had iced over and was the coldest I had seen Auckland for a while. Managed to get a pretty good group @100m using sand bags but rifle wasn't as still as I would have liked it. I am very happy with the scope and the setup!. Even the resident possum who lives up in the rifle range roof was asleep. Must be a deaf as a post!

    A three shot 1/2" group with on a 16" Spikes AR15 with Vortex PST 1-4x at 100m (15mm outside), using PMC .223 55gr FMJBT.
(Best I have done with this rifle/scope combo...)
