Looking at a secondhand scope and looks like it has had some of the old rub-the-lens-with-a-grubby-tshirt treatment that has scoured the objective lens coating. Don’t notice it too bad except at full magnification when looking through it but wondering if there is any fix for this before I say no thanks or give them a suitably low ball offer.

If it has taken the coating off the lenses, then the only way to fix it is send it back to the manufacturer and for them to fix it they will fit new lenses. There is no way for the average Joe to fix scratched lenses other than putting up with it. Most of the time you would probably never notice it.

I have been caught on Trademe with MINT or UNBLEMISHED scopes look like theres still milk in the bottle.
Once you've seen it you can not un-see it.
Cheers - confirms my thinking on this, damned pity though to see a decent optic mucked up by carelessness like this.
Scratches on the the objective lens often don't amount to much visually. Scratches on the ocular lens are a different story
Ive seen this quite a bit on Kahles Helias. the coating seems to be soft/fragile but it hasn't affected clarity
A lowball offer won't fix it.
If its for a spare rifle only your mates will use, a truck rifle ...
if its on a leupold...buy it...factory may only charge small amount to replace lens...mate had one fog and sent it back...came back with scratched lenses fixed and note to only use lint free cloth etc in future.
